Accidents within scope of pupil accident insurance

 

  • The term 'pupil' refers to children in schools, nursery schools and day-care facilities, pupils at general schools and vocational colleges, and students. By analogy, the term 'school' also refers to children's day-care centres and institutions of higher education.

  • In the area of pupil accident insurance, any accident which results in treatment by a doctor is reportable. In 2011, 1,293,653 reportable school accidents were recorded, representing a decline of 0.8 % from 76.35 to 75.78 per 1,000 pupils.
  •  

  • The new pensions resulting from school accidents dropped by 18.4 %, to 505. The risk of a serious school accident thus fell from 0.036 to 0.030 per 1,000 pupils, a decrease of 18.2 %.
  •  

  • At 114,157, the number of reportable school commuting accidents decreased by 8.4 % over the previous year; the risk of accident fell off 8.1 %, to 6.69 per 1,000 pupils. The number of new pensions resulting from school commuting accidents fell off 4.4 % to 303 cases.
